GBQ+ Men's Resources
At Essie's Place, we are dedicated to ensuring that GBQ+ men have access to the health resources they need, especially when it comes to sexual health and wellbeing. We strongly advocate for consulting with your family doctor as the first step for medical advice and testing. However, we understand that this may not always be an option for everyone. In such cases, our resources can provide you with alternative paths to ensure your health is prioritized.

STI Testing: Knowing your status is a crucial part of maintaining your sexual health. We offer guidance on confidential and judgement-free STI testing services that are sensitive to the needs of the GBQ+ community. These services aim to provide you with the information and support necessary for regular health checks.

PrEP Access: Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a powerful tool in preventing HIV infection. If you are at high risk for HIV, PrEP can significantly reduce your risk when taken as prescribed. Our resources can help you navigate how to access PrEP, understand how it works, and connect you with healthcare providers who can offer personalized advice and prescriptions.

PEP Access: Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) is an emergency medication for people who have potentially been exposed to HIV. Starting PEP as soon as possible, and within 72 hours of exposure, is critical for its effectiveness. We provide information on how to quickly access PEP and the steps to take in an emergency situation.

Our goal is to empower you with knowledge and access to services that support your health and well-being. Remember, while we provide these resources as alternatives, your family doctor or a healthcare professional is always the best source for personalized medical advice.
